Welcome, Pastor Sarah Allen, and Terry, to Payson United Methodist Church, we are very happy to have you!
,9 From the Earth to the Sky April 21, 28, May 5, 12, 19, 26, June 9, 23, 30 The Resurrection is the ultimate miracle. God present with us raises himself from the death of the tomb to new life. In dying, Jesus offers us eternal life, opening the door to Heaven for all who want to come in. Here, though, is difficult part. Can we hang our sins on the cross and die to new life or are we stuck in this world and this life. We commit ourselves again to Christ as God has invited us to be with him again.
Farewell Pastor Carl, Bonnie and Victoria Peterson . You served Payson United Methodist Church so very well and make God's smile endless! You WILL be missed! God Bless and God Speed!
Prepare the Way March 17, 24, 31, April 7, 14 We are called upon to be at work preparing God's Kingdom on Earth. God is sovereign in Heaven, so we are to be about preparing the Earth to receive the King of Kings. Jesus' death on the cross opens the door to Heaven, yet we live as though Heaven is still far off and irrelevant in our lives. As Christ is born into this world at Christmas, the Holy Spirit comes to indwell in us at Easter. Let's prepare ourselves and the world for God to be with us.
Let us Pray February 17, 24, March 3, 10 Jesus is reported to have prayed frequently and his disciples asked him to teach them to pray as he did. The Lord's Prayer, or the Our Father in some traditions, has come to us over the centuries and many of us learned it an early age. Do we really understand and mean the words, though. This series explores the mystery of the words Jesus taught us.
Reality for All Time January 20, 27, February 3, 10 The season after the epiphany is a time to let the busy-ness of the holidays settle in and the reality of what has taken place to take root. We are reminded that God came before us and created all that exists. We remember that God comes to us as Jesus Christ, and that Christ redeems us, taking on the debt of our sins and offering forgiveness. Let us take time to be made holy in this season of growth.
Singing a New Song December 30, January 6, 13 Christmas is a time of celebration that Christ is born into the world and God becomes real for us. We sing praises to God for the humility of coming to Earth not to demonstrate divine power, but to demonstrate what it is to be truly human. Jesus lives as a human, submits to baptism, and is worshipped by shepherds and wisemen alike. We lift up our voices in celebration of the coming of the Lord.
