Adult Sunday School
Trish Hofer leads an on-going study using curriculum from Cokesbury, Abingdon Press, and other sources. The classes engage participants in thought-provoking and challenging conversations as the Bible is opened up and Scripture revealed. The class is open to anyone and meets between worship services, beginning 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
Not just for people who are thinking about becoming members, but for anyone who wants to learn more about the United Methodist Church and our local congregation. Pastor Carl leads this class in two-hour sessions over four weeks. Members of the congregation, people planning to join the congregation, and people who just want more information are invited to participate. Read and hear about John Wesley and other persons who contributed to the origin of the denomination. Study our beliefs and discuss the distinctive characteristics of the Methodists. Learn about the Bible as our primary source for God's word, and learn how we understand tradition, reason, and experience influence our understanding of the Holy Scriptures. The classes are usually held Sunday afternoons. Contact the office to register for the next class.
For nearly 30 years Bill and Janine Cluck have led a Bible Study meeting on Wednesday evenings. The group studies the Bible one book at a time and is currently studying Psalms. The group consists principally of couples from various churches in Payson, but is open to anyone (singles or couples). Please contact the church office for more information about joining this study.
Coffee with Carl: A Bible Study
This coffee-house-style conversational study explores the scripture passages that are the foundation for the upcoming Sunday's sermon. Participants share ideas about the meaning of the text in their own lives while the Pastor shares information about related passages, word studies, cultural information, and insights picked up during the sermon preparation process.
